Our mission is contributing to a more diverse and accessible yogisphere.

We serve as an inviting and affordable space for members of the black and brown community to begin or build upon their yoga practice. Obvious racial and social disparities in the west’s yogic environment, geographic and affordability barriers, limit access to yoga for people of color and people of poverty.

As instructor and student of the practice, I have thoroughly navigated Louisville’s yogic landscape vigorously searching for a studio that prioritizes sustainable inclusion. In the hundreds of classes I have taken, I rarely shared class space with another black or brown person, and even more rare is being taught by person of black or brown heritage.

We will reach more students of color, eventually training and hiring more teachers of color. A breath and a step at a time, Breathe Black Yoga will make western yoga a more colorful experience.
